Homemade Solar Panels and a Wind Mill

Ice Storm Still Has The Kentucky Area Griped in a Power Outage. Here is a Possible Solution.

The country has recently been shocked by many natural disasters lately. Most recently the Kentucky region has been hit with a powerful ice storm. I feel a bit bad because I live here in Southern California where we have been enduring an Indian summer (nice weather). Today I called my hosting company, “IX web hosting,” and there was a 30-caller wait, the problem? It was due to the power outage from last week’s ice storm; the girl told me: “Many would not have power for the entire month of February and into March”! WOW, now that was shocking to me.

Actually I have heard a lot of reports of power outages this winter, that is, back east. All of this makes me think, what could be a possible solution? Off grid living is the answer. Yes living off the grid is what many on those in the affected areas are doing, albeit against their will. Picture this, all people everywhere learn how to build homemade solar power systems for their personal homes.    Is it possible?

Yes it is possible to build solar panel systems. Yes and its a whole lot cheaper than you might think.  There are many local resources that also include websites that have the type of supplies you need to accomplish this task. You will find instructional manuals that will show you how to build solar panel systems for pennies on the dollar. There are also kits available that you can assemble, with pre built parts into full complete panels. This makes it much easier than doing it all from scratch.

As I mentioned there many how to build manuals out there. The problem, is which course is the best to buy; that’s the real question I suppose? Yes, should you just buy a ready made solar panel system, buy a kit, or buy an inexpensive how to build solar panel systems manual and build them from scratch? It really depends on how much time, energy, and money you have to spend.

For me having worked as a machine designer and electro-mechanical assembler the answer is obvious. But you don’t have to have that background to do this at all. Really a child can do it; in fact learning how to build solar panel systems makes for a great family project. Additionally, you might have friends or family who would enjoy helping you out with this weekend project. Using alternative methods to save energy and resources is great for saving your hard-earned cash now, but also when these inevitable power outages occur you will be sitting pretty, not only because you learned how to build solar panel systems for your home, but that you took action!
